Hap's Racing Leathers
Hap's Racing Leathers is company based out of Illinios that us run by a former National racer from the '70's, Kenny Hapke. Kenny sponsors GNC racer Luke Gough as well as a number of midwest racers.

Kenny contacted us about improving his website to increase exposure and ultimately sales. When we reviewed all of Kenny's existing materials, the first thing we suggested was a redo of his logo. We gave the new logo a black background that would not clash with any other color used for a set of leathers. The lettering in the logo is a bright red that stands out against the black background.

Then, to give the logo some individuality and not make it just letters, we arranged and modified things so that the bottom of the P in Hap's in the top line, lines up with the L in the bottom line. We did the same thing with the R in Racing in the top line with the H in the bottom line. This tightens up the look of the logo as well as bringing all three words together. This logo is easily read when photographed on a riders leathers and develops a consistent brand for Hap's.

With the new logo complete and approved by Kenny, we moved forward with a web ad that generates considerable interest for Kenny on www.flattrack.com. We used the new logo against a yellow background to give the logo some standout. As we worked on the ad, we realized that we needed a tagline. Something catchy. We used a slight play on words and came up with "Let Hap's Protect Your Assets". After all, what is a leather suit supposed to do but protect you in case of a fall. Remember, there are two kinds of motorcycle racers, those that have fallen and those that will fall. You want to be prepared to hit the dirt, that is for sure.

With the ad generating interest, we needed to get the new website done - QUICKLY! The new logo and tagline were used along with an image of a racer's assets you might say. It took considerable time to find an image of a racer from behind and that is not a typical shot. Since we didn't want that to be the focus of the header, we did some PhotoShop work and subdued it a bit. The logo is the main focus of the header. The links at the bottom of the header were done in the same font as the logo with simple mouse-overs that change the lettering color to match the logo.

In addition to the design work, we also wrote all of the copy for the website after extensive interviews with Kenny. He was a very satisfied customer to say the least. Below is an image of Hap's home page that links to his website so you can view the whole site for yourself.
